THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY
Very simply, I loved this book. I have often wondered what a different right or wrong step at a critical junction in my life would have resulted in. Our protagonist is allowed to sample many different lives, to see firsthand what it would have been like if she hadn't fled the altar, if she'd pursued her dream of rock stardom, if she'd actually stuck with swimming and become an Olympic star and so on. The reader goes from shaking her head at this character who refuses to reach her potential, but instead sinks into depression and suicidal thoughts to gaining insight into her thoughts an actions.
Very readable and engrossing. It would be fun to vote on our favorite "story."
I've read other books by this imaginative writer and consider myself a definite fan.
